单词though和although在大多数情况下是可以互换使用，用来表示“尽管”的含义：
- Although/though the sun was shining, it was very cold.
- He disagreed with us, although/though he didn’t tell us.
- The house is lovely, although/though the garden is a bit small.
但在下面的三种情况下，单词though和although不能互换：
1, 用在句子末尾(口语中):
- He disagreed with us. He didn’t tell us, though.
- The house is lovely. The garden is a bit small, though.
2, 用在短语as though中(和as if同义):
- It sounds as though/as if you had a nice holiday.
- He acted as though/as if nothing was wrong.
3, 和even连用，构成短语even though:
- Even though Arsenal played well, they lost the game.
- I took my coat, even though it wasn’t cold.
另外，although比though要更正式一些，although多用于书面语，而though同时可用于书面语和口语。另外，短语even though表示的语气要比although强烈。
